Sir Francis Drake

Eiger - Monday

Here's the front cover of our new story...

Let's predict what our new book could be about. Use clues to guess what might happen in the story.

I think the story is about...
I think this because I can see...
I also think that...
This is because...

Did you know we use apostrophes for different things?

This week we will be learning how to use apostrophes for possession. When we possess something, that means we own it and it's ours.

Here are some examples:
That is Jude's artwork.
Which is Demilade's bag?
Rufaydah's apple was delicious.
It is Leo's bike!

Can you see my red apostrophes?

Can you tell the difference between using an apostrophe for a contraction and for possession?

Reminder: A contraction is when we condense two words. Condense means to make it smaller.
Here are some examples:
do not = don't
it is = it's
you are = you're

We are learning time! Time is used to measure or compare the duration of events or the intervals between them, and even sequence events.

This week we are learning about how many minutes are in an hour and how many hours are in a day.

Last week we practiced telling the time to 5 minutes.
Here's a video to help you see how we can count in 5s to get to 1 hour.

There are 24 hours in a day.
There are 60 minutes in an hour.

Special Task

Cloud hunting

In March, a lady named Hollie Lindley spotted a cloud in the sky that looked exactly like the United Kingdom! Here's the cloud and the map of the UK:

Click the link to the article to read all about when she spotted the cloud. There are also other pictures of cool clouds to look at... like a duck and an elephant!

Your task:
Spot some cloud shapes in the sky. You might like to lay down in your backyard or at the park and watch them move slowly across the sky.

Use the clouds as inspiration to write a story. For example, if you see an elephant shaped cloud you might make up a story about an elephant.
