Forest - Monday
Welcome Back Forest Class!
I hope you had a lovely half term break! Hopefully you were able to have some fun at home with your families and enjoy some of the beautiful weather.
This half term our topic is 'Under the Sea!' We will be reading some great stories and learning some facts about creatures that live under the sea.
Make sure you have a look at our Weekly Update to see what your Reception friends got up to before the half term break! You can find the Weekly Update and WOW Board here.
This week we are reading 'The Rainbow Fish'
Have you read this story before? What do you think might happen in the story?
Now listen to the story
Can you retell the story to someone else in your home? Who were the characters in the story?
How did the Rainbow Fish feel in the beginning of the story? How was the Rainbow Fish feeling at the end?
Miss Cohen's, Emma's and Ms. Fullerton's groups - Learning 'nk'
Miss Fernando's group - Learning special friends 'tious and cious'
Read these words using the new special friends 'tious' and 'cious'
Can you make your own sound book? After you have learned a new sound, write it in your book! Then see if you can draw some pictures with that sound and label its name.
This week we are going to practice counting on and finding out how many. To begin, we are going to watch and sing along to the 'I can count on from any number' song.
Can you ask an adult or big brother or sister to tell you a number to start counting from and how many to count on. For example they might tell you to count 2 numbers from 3. So you would start counting at 3 and then 4, 5.
You might count 3 numbers from 11. So you would start at 11 and count on 12, 13, 14.
Use your fingers to help you, if you need to. Have fun counting on!
The main character in the story we are reading this week is the beautiful Rainbow Fish. Using recycled materials, make your own Rainbow Fish. You could use an old CD with some glitter and sequins, a paper plate, cardboard box and some kitchen foil to make your special scale.
I look forward to seeing your amazing Rainbow Fish!
I look forward to seeing your learning!
